Health & Safety statement for farms, farm risk assessment

Farm Safety Statements
The objective of Health and Safety Law is to reduce human suffering and losses due to accidents and unsafe working conditions. Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and regulations made under the Act, the Law requires farmers to provide, in so far as is reasonably practical, a safe farm environment to work in, safe working practices and safe machinery and equipment.

For all farms that have less than 3 employees a risk assessment for the farm must be prepared and retained on the farm. For farmers with 3 or more employees a safety statement is required. Completing a risk assessment for each farm is essential in complying with this legislation.

Pat Minnock has undertaken additional training with the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) and will provide advice and support to farmers wishing to complete their risk assessment. Throughout 2010 he hopes to arrange a number of courses and on farm walks to aid the completion of this risk assessment.
